BITTER GOURD FRY / KARATE PODI

WHAT YOU NEED:

Bitter gourds 2 medium size

Rice 1/2 cup ( a little more than half cup)

Red chillies 8

Asafoetida - small pea size

Tamarind - 2 " piece

Salt

KARATE PHODI



HOW TO MAKE:


For the masala:

Wash and soak rice for half an hour.

Drain the water from the rice and grind it along with red chillies, tamarind, asafoetida and salt. Add very little water while grinding. The masala should be thick.

Wash  and cut the bittergourd  in 3" pieces. Or Cut in round shape.

Marinate them with the masala and keep it for 10 -15 minutes.

Take enough oil in kadahi and heat it. When it is hot fry the bitter gourd pieces in batches about 6,7 at a time.

Take out the fried gourds in spotted spoon and spread it on tissue paper.
